Sandra Calderón began her singing career at the age of twelve, giving Mozart recitals throughout Europe and the United States. Some venues include Carnegie Hall in New York, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C and Victoria Hall in Geneva. During this time she also recorded various CDs, including a live recording of her Carnegie Hall debut. Her later career path as an opera singer began with her studies at the University of Music in Vienna. Parallel to her studies she continued her international performances which took her to the Accademia Santa Cecilia in Rome as “Adele” in “Die Fledermaus”; Torino with conductor Eliahu Inbal conducting “Die Götterdämmerung” (Sandra as “Woglinde”) and her debut at the viennese Musikverein under the baton of Fabio Luisi in Mahler’s 4th Symphony. Following the CD-production of the Mono-Opera “The Diary of Anne Frank” by Grigori Frid, the piece was performed on two international tours, one of which toured schools in Germany. In 2008 Sandra moved to New York and changed her fach to mezzo soprano. Her first role was in the premiere of the japanese opera, “En Saga” in Merkin Hall New York, followed by a concert series of both the Verdi Requiem and Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. In 2010 she was finalist at the Lyndon Woodside Oratorio Solo Competition in New York. In 2012 she gave her debut as „Jane Seymour“ in Donizetti’s “Anna Bolena“ in Houston, Texas. In Europe she was invited to sing “Maddalena” (“Rigoletto”) in Cesky-Krumlov, followed by her first „Carmen“ in Budweis, Czech Republic. Maryland Lyric Opera invited her to sing her first “Lola“ in “Cavalleria Rusticana“. Sandra continues to perform regularly as a concert artist, having found her new passion in the baroque repertory. Presently Sandra Calderón lives in Köln, Germany with her family.
