Greta Damrau
Greta Damrau is a successful voice teacher in New York City where she maintains a studio. Until recently, she was a frequent guest in Japan. Ms. Damrau presently has students singing in major opera companies such as Berlin, Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège, Royal Opera Convent Garden, Metropolitan Opera and San Francisco Opera.
Greta Damrau began her operatic career as a “trouser role” artist in small European opera houses. Subsequently, she transitioned into the Italian “lirico spinto” roles and to the Wagnerian-Straussian repertoire.
In concert, Ms. Damrau sang with Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta Nacional de España, Nova Filarmonia Portuguesa, L’Orchestre Philharmonique de Nice, L’Orchestre National de Lyon. Festival appearances included the Saint-Céré Festival in Paris, the Wolf Trap, Marlboro and Ravinia Festivals in the USA. Ms. Damrau worked with the following conductors: Sir John Prichard, Bruno Bartoletti, Alberto Erede, Hans Swarowsky, Alvaro Cassuto, Roland Gagnon, Millard Altman, and Walter Taussig. Ms. Damrau is equally at home in art song repertoire.
