Galina ivannikova

Galina Ivannikova began her singing career in Ukraine after graduating from Kiev Academy of Music with MA in Opera, Chamber Music, and Vocal Technique.  She holds a DMA in Opera Performance (ABD) from University of Memphis, TN. 

Her wide ranging repertoire as a dramatic mezzo includes the title role of Carmen, the roles in Wagner’s operas such as Waltraute, Fricka, Erda, Ortrud, Brangene, and Venus; Verdi’s roles such as Amneris, Azucena, Ulrica, Eboli, and many roles of Russian repertoire.

Galina Ivannikova is hailed by critics and audiences alike for her rich, lustrous voice as much as her passionate dramatic portrayals. Bruce Michael Gelbert of the NY Art Review raved about “her timbre ruby in color, her chest register aptly gusty and her emotional pitch perfect”, and her “big, glorious Verdi voice in the Golden Age tradition.”  Her portrayal of La Cieca in La Gioconda with NJ Verismo Opera was positively reviewed by Opera Magazine, LONDON as displaying an “imposing instrument and passion.”

For the last a few seasons she sang her signature role of Amneris in many opera theaters, also the roles of Azucena, Ulrica, and Wagner’s roles, She made her debut as Eboli in May 2019 with CT Lyric Opera, CT.

Galina has many years of experience teaching vocal technique and coaching Russian diction.
