Radoslava Quinn

Czech Diction Coach Radoslava Quinn coaches language for opera performers and has received the recommendation of the late Maestro Jiří Bělohlávek. Mrs. Quinn has closely collaborated with Maestro Bělohlávek at San Francisco Opera in the capacity of a language coach. Aside from coaching numerous Czech productions at San Francisco Opera and Seattle Opera, Radoslava has also designed a syllabus and conducted a series of rudimentary Czech language classes for the Adler Fellowship program in San Francisco. Aside from her association with opera companies, she also coaches language and prepares singers for their roles in her private studio. Native of the Czech Republic, she transferred from Prague and finished her studies at Notre Dame de Namur University in CA as a flute performance major. While still in school, her musical direction started to shift towards vocal performance under the guidance of Sheri Greenawald, Director of the San Francisco Opera Center. In recent years, Mrs. Quinn has performed with numerous ensembles in the SF Bay Area, as well as Europe, some of which include the Philharmonia Baroque, San Francisco Symphony Chorus, San Francisco Opera Chorus, and the Czech Philharmonic Chorus Brno. Over the last two decades, she has also been a part of the choral ensemble on the grammy-winning SF Symphony recording label as well as their Keeping Score series directed by Ken Burns. Her performance and vocal technique knowledge are immeasurable assets to language coaching.

Reference from Maestro Jiří Bělohlávek for Seattle Opera:

“Dear Sir or Madam -

This summer-season (2016) I was conducting the production of Leoš Janáček’s opera Jenůfa in San Francisco Opera House.

During weeks of my preparation work with the ensemble I have had an extreme pleasure to encounter the Czech coach - Mrs.Radoslava Biancalana. To work with her was a revelation, she was not only perfectly prepared but always brought her enthusiasm into the process. I was especially appreciating her ability to explain the special sounds in the Czech language and to give technical advise to the singers, how the correct sound should be achieved.

I can recommend her for the further projects from bottom of my heart.

Prof. Jiří Bělohlávek

Music Director, Česká Filhamonie”
